Collaboration Reflection

This semester has definitely been a challenge with many hurdles placed in my way.

The aerial ropeway project was definitely a massive learning curve and a different experience.   The software limitations and issues among the collaboration issues within the team, it has certainly provided me with the practice to appreciate what it is like to work with different levels of skills, opinions, commitment levels and communication skills.

Probably the biggest detriment to the project was the communication commitment.  It was very difficult at times to communicate with other team members and whole group meetings always went a miss.   I found that at times it was difficult to work efficiently as team members didn’t have the same commitment level as others.  Team members also didn’t take on the responsibility to take time off from work, especially the day of and the days before the final presentation.   Unfortunately team members lacked motivation and initiate and were constantly asking others what their task or role was.

However, despite the difference in communication skills the team still remained focused and set on achieving the client’s needs, which was accomplished.  I am pleased with the work our team has produced and whilst there were many concerns within the team, it enabled us to learn and experience firsthand the benefits and disadvantages of collaborative teams, especially large ones.
